Food Help

Hey, this is going to sound strange, but could somebody help me determine what I am eating?  It is a round, flaky, pastry-type food formed in concentric circles and some kind of cherry filled jelly substance in the middle.  Its about six to eight inches in diameter and it tastes really good.  I would like to thank the person who brought it to me but I don't want to ask them what it was because I should probably know.  Thanks!

Oh yeah, I should probably mention that the cherry filled jelly was visible...not like a surprise filling inside the pastry.

its a pastry , or a danish

I thought pastry was a generic term for various flaky baked goods.  Danish sounds like it could be right.  I didn't think of that.

Danish sounds about right.  Do you make a habit of eating strange, yet delicious looking foods?

Unfortunately, far too many foods are alien to me.  This one looked so benign that I had to give it a try.  I did a google image search of 'Danish pastry' and I suppose that is what I ate...except there wasn't any white splatter all over it.  Is that still Danish pastry?

Fleur on

Sort of.  I believe the technical term is "Danish without white splatter".  You may want to request a "Danish WITH white splatter" just to see what you are missing.  Mind you, do NOT  go throwing white paint on your "Danish without white splatter," you will not get the same taste effect.  I have a feeling you are adventurous with your food (i.e peanut butter and cup-o-ramen), so that is just a heads up.

I'm adventurous only if you consider trying to put peanutbutter on everything 'adventurous'.  I'm really picky with foods and I don't like to try new things.

I think you were duped. You got a Jelly Donut without powdered sugar
