I'm in Love!!!!

Is it unhealthy to fall in love with an office supply?  I'm totally smitten by binder-clips.  I don't know why, but I'm like Imelda Marcos in a Payless Shoes Store with them.  I need them all!  The entire office worth of binder clips.  Small, medium and large.  All of them.  I know this is weird but I can't stop.  I love binder-clips.  They make regular paperclips look like little silver coiled up pieces of turd.  I don't even use them either.  If I started using them, then they would get dispersed.  Sometimes, when I have to send a large amount of papers, I make a paperclip work. I'll also stagger regular paperclips throughout the stack so that everything is loosely clipped together through a complex series of paperclips.  Seriously get creative with ways to avoid giving up my binder-clips.  I also make these really cool arches by clipping the clips of several together and then clipping the lead one to my pen holder.  It's awesome.  Anybody else love an office supply?  God, I hope I'm not alone here...

lol Cavutto.  You're not alone.  I go buck wild & crazy in office supply stores.  Mine is pens.  I drool for eternity over them--shapes, sizes, colors, grips.  But I love everything else in there too.  I need to live in the upstairs of an office supply store.

I hit the mother-load today.  I'm throwing out stacks of old invoices and lots of them are binder-clipped.  Score!

Nice!  I wish I had time to go into one of those stores today.  I just remembered that I love looking at different kinds of paper, too.  Marbled, patterned, white...how thick is it, what does it smell like...I have to stop, I'm getting excited thinking about it.

Check it out!

That pile in the background has probably tripled since I took that picture.  I totally hit the mother-load today!

I like it.  I like how the normal paper clips are cut off & in the corner, and how they're all in that little container, like a zoo, while the binder clips are dancing around the desk.

Yeah, they're segregated.

To make the best arch possible, I really had to structurally engineer those things.  See, some of the clips have relatively weak silver parts that can't hold up the rest of the arch.  The stronger ones have to be near the base to support the weight of the structure.  The weaker ones always go at the end.  I've gotten it up to 7 in my glory-days.

We in the south call those alligator clips, I don't know why...I always thought that was what a roach clip was called.  I really like post it notes too Ness, and my faxed stamp, oh and dry erase markers.  I love the way they smell!!

Yay for good smellin' stuff!  Cavutto, I'm jealous that you get paid to structurally engineer binder clips.  Or alligator clips--I've never heard that one!

I'm not sure I would call them good (healthy) smelling, but they give you a funny feeling in your noggin!

I'm moving into a new office today and I think I might have to explain why my old desk was full of binder clips. :

Fuck it, I'm taking them all with me.

I must admit to hoarding binder clips, but good rubber bands used to be just as hard to keep around... even though I seem to be a popular target of rubberband shooters. Clips keep their functionality, rubberbands seem to disintegrate over time, and lose elasticity. Pens are fun too, but I also have a fine collection of rubber finger tips.

Post pic of new office with old binder clips when you can. And if any pens get in the picture, that'd be okay too.
