'07 Models

The new year is almost upon us and that can only mean one thing: the '07 models are just around the corner!  I'm so excited!  2007 is looking very promising.  Here are a list of some new models that I have my eye on:

1. Hoover WindTunnel 2 Surface Command Bagless - Based on my preliminary observations, this vacuum has all the bells and whistles of many of the higher priced vacuums with a few extras that even they don't have.  Most notably, this 12 amp sucking machine features a new, self-cleaning HEPA filter that cleans itself every six seconds to maintain full power over the course of a long session.  Another notable advancement is the Surface Command automatic height adjustment so you can go from thick carpet to linoleum without stopping to adjust the height yourself.  This should eliminate many of the belt-drive problems experienced with previous models inadvertently left on incorrect carpet settings.  Another new feature on the '07 is the Real-Time tool system with Tag-Along grip, which converts the accessory tools to a telescopic wand.  All-in-all, this is the vacuum that provides the most bang-for-the-buck as far as I'm concerned.

2. Bissell Lift-Off Revolution Turbo Upright - The new Bissells look very promising and I think that the Lift-Off Revolution Turbo is a nice addition to their line-up.  The new Revolution Turbo system may do to the upright vacuum industry what Jimmy Durante did to vaudville.  Bissell has been pretty secretive about the technical aspects of this 'revolutionary' system, but insiders speculate that it will suck pretty hard.  The only real downside of the '07 model is Bissells decision not to follow the industry and switch to a bagless format.  Also notable is Bissells incorporation of a pre-motor filter which will inevitably add to the motor-life.  It is possible that this development is necessary to support Revolution Turbo system, but we won't know for sure until we get a chance to look under the hood.  Oh, and this is wicked cool too...the Lift-Off Rev. has a detachable canister, so you can carry it upstairs and stuff real easy like.  Oh, snap!

3. Bissell Healthy Home - This is Bissells marquee model this year.  Despite it's wimpy name, this 12-amp beast features multicyclonic technology for maximum power and suction.  A multinational team of French, German and Swiss engineers worked eight years to develop an Airetight HEPA filtration system which traps carpet bound allergens in such a way that it almost mocks the Lift-Off Revolution Turbo.  The Airetight system boasts Microban antimicrobial properties that continuously inhibit the growth of odors, stains, bacteria, mold and milder inside the machine.  Think of it as a really powerful Trojan horse that sucks and instead of being full of Greeks, it is full of Lysol.

Next week:  Dyson and Eureka death-match of doom inside a cage with sharp weapons and a pile of dirt.  Stay tuned!

Good lord, I think my panties are moist. I'm for #1 all the way.

Hell yeah dude!  As soon as I saw the words 'Surface Command', my heart skipped a beat.  I wonder if they're going to be coming out with a police interceptor version.  That thing could probably turn the Sahara to flat bedrock!

On a totally unrelated note, if you ever order a sandwich with caramelized apples, hold off on the mayo.  It's not as good as you would think.  The bacon, however...delicious.

Wow Cavutto, you are expanding your horizons...carmelized apples on a sandwich.

I know!  I've been on a food crusade since around August and I've been liberating all kinds of exotic foods from the infidels.  Granted, I don't like 80% of it, caramelized apples included.

Carmelized onions aren't so hot either.

/I hate mayo.

I actually thought that was what he was talking about Joe!

Caramelized onions are especially gross.  I tried those once too.  I think the problem is that caramel is sugar based and something in the caramelization process brings out the taste of burnt sugar or something.  I don't really know though because I have no idea what caramelize even means.

From Wikipedia:

Caramelization is a complex, poorly understood process that produces hundreds of chemicals. Here is an overview:

  1. equilibration of anomeric and ring forms
  2. sucrose inversion to fructose and glucose
  3. condensation
  4. intramolecular bonding
  5. isomerization of aldoses to ketoses
  6. dehydration reactions
  7. fragmentation reactions
  8. unsaturated polymer formation

Fuckin' gross!  I had no idea!  Go caramelize yourself, caramelization!

Carmelizing is the proces of melting sugar, sugar!

I need a Hoover Floor Mate, I have all tile in my place and this wonderful piece of machinery sweeps, mops and dries.

Oh, hell yeah, that thing is wicked cool!  I would get one, but I only have a little bit of linoleum in my kitchen and even less tile in my bathroom...hardly worth the $100+ M.S.R.P.  What's really cool is that it has removable brushes (2!), which make cleaning it a snap and a dual tank (one for fresh cleaner, one for dirty post-cleaning cleaner) so you aren't just wiping dirty solution across your floor.  Word!  That's the shiznit.

I'm putting that on my christmas wish list right now!

If you really wanna crunch the numbers and do a cost/benefit analysis on some new upright vacs Along-Came-Polly-style, check out this chart.  Whoop whoop!

The on ly carpet I have is in my bedroom so I just use the Swiffer Carpet Flick.  Works good, but basically it is just a piece of sticky tape on a stick!

Cavutto on
I hate Swiffers.  They are fundamentally dumb.
