I feel bad for inventions that don't have good names. Especially ones where the name is identical to the function of the product. Like the 'Hole Puncher'. That's the best you could come up with? Take a cue from the scissors and come up with something really memorable. Scissors is one of the best names out there. When you really think about it, scissors don't really slice through things, they actually pinch the material and that's what cuts it. I realized this when I thought about cutting hair. Hair has a remarkably strong tensile strength and you need to have a pretty sharp blade to cut even one hair. But since the scissors pinch to cut, they don't have to be very sharp at all. Sure, it helps to have sharper ones because the pinching area will be smaller, but you can cut through a single hair with relatively dull scissors.
Man, I spaced!
I have the greatest pair of scissors ever made. They're Fiskars Normark. Stainless steel made in Finland with bright orange finger holes.. They were my mom's scissors since as far back as I can remember, now theyre here at my desk, all tattooed up with my name so some d-bag doesn't steal them. I can seriously cut through just about anything with these bad actors.
