Toys

So I was watching TV and I came across yet another of VH1's friggin 'I Love...' countdown shows. This one piqued my interest because it was 'I Love Toys'. It was totally bunk though. Number one toy - the hula hoop. The friggin' hula hoop? When was that even fun? Maybe in like the middle ages or something. Even then, I think that game where you hit the hoop with a stick and chase it would've been way more fun. Barbie and G.I. Joe were in the top 10 too, which is pretty dumb. Those toys don't do shit besides eventually get naked and grope each other clumsily. There were just way too many things wrong with the list. A friggin' tea set beat the balsa wood glider! The tea set also beat R/C cars, which is laughable. I didn't even think that a tea set was a friggin toy. It's cups!

Kites didn't even make the list. I think my childhood was a sham now.

Big Wheels did make it though. Those things were badass.

Friggin' tea set. I'm still pissed.

What was your favorite toy growing up? I swear to god, Joe...if you say 'tea set'... :)

Dude, I was poor as a kid.

I had Photon which was the podunk version of Laser Tag.

Also had Atari 2600 like, until I was 12 or 13.

I had a giant rock in my hard which I used to pretend was a horse.

I had a few cap guns and stuff...

ehh i dunno man. I think I just kinda used to sit on the floor and do nothing.

Oh yeah! I had He-Man's Battle Cat (the inflatable one) but it always deflated.

And I had a motorized jeep, but some fucking kids stole it.

Dude, I feel real bad laughing at the mental image of Kid Joe sitting amidst the flaccid remains of He Man's Battle-Cat.

Balsa wood gliders were always a big hit with me. My grandma used to walk to the drugstore with me and I would always get them. I was real good at adjusting them just right.

Whaaaat! No Slig Shot. All of us "Little Rascals" lovers had slig shots. Oh, I forgot. Different generation!

5-Potato Head.

I also loved 100-Magic 8 Ball, which I never had but one of my friends did, it was my favorite thing to do just before bed, lie there and think of what I wanted to ask it, and see the response.

And, I had a Green Machine! I wanted one so bad, waited all year for my birthday in October, only to have my brother wreck it soon after by taking it off a jump made of boards. I mean, ruining his own BigWheels wasn't enough, he had to ruin my fun too. He owes me a Green Machine.

We had a Pac Man machine and a Pool Table when I was a kid, I played with those mostly.

What was the ball with the disc around it you jumped on, was it a pogo ball? I liked the pogo stick too.
